She might be a star on the silver screen, but Cate Blanchett continues to wow us on the red carpet

CATE Blanchett is one of my favourite style icons. In my opinion she never puts a red-carpet foot wrong. Whether she's wearing a Romance Was Born creation, Armani Prive couture or Alexander McQueen, her sartorial risktaking demonstrates a rare sophistication and confidence.
In New York last week for the premiere of her latest movie, Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, Blanchett looked spectacular – but oh so familiar – in a Balenciaga Edition ensemble.
Those in the know immediately recognised the outfit's vintage pedigree. It was a re-creation of the 1967 Cristobal Balenciaga original (below), by the label's new creative director Alexander Wang.

Wang, who replaced Nicholas Ghesquiere at the famed French house in November last year, remade the dress especially for Blanchett. Wang's nod to the controversial designer in perhaps what is the ultimate tribute, the gorgeous pale pink number was a brave choice for Blanchett but also the perfect colour to complement to her alabaster skin.
Are you a fan of Cate Blanchett? Do you love her brave choices on
the red carpet? Would love to hear from you.
