Everything’s just rosy, so it’s time to think pink
FEELING in the pink? The wondrous hue signifies good health – being “in the pink” – and success as in “everything’s rosy”.
While marsala might be the “colour of the year”, some colours continue to appear in collections year after year, regardless of on-trend style dictates – and for good reason. Pale pink is one of those classic shades that every woman needs in her wardrobe; it never seems to go out of style.
Pink – and all it’s wonderful rich tones – promises to brighten any dark, cold winter’s day or cool down a hot summer’s day. But embracing a new colour is always a challenge, however I encourage you to try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
It represents compassion and relates to unconditional love and understanding. It is feminine and romantic, affectionate and intimate, thoughtful and caring. It is a sign of hope and positivity, a colour which inspires warmth and comforting feelings, a sense that everything will be okay.
Pink also embodies ladylike elegance – think skirt suits, a classic boucle sheath dress, A-line skirts or just a jacket over the shoulders.
But if you don’t want to make like Elsa Schiaparelli, the 1930’s fashion designer who loved to wear a shade of shocking pink, muted pastel tones are a more restrained way to wear all-over pink. Or build upon a pink foundation by layering pieces that create interest and texture – think chunky knits, sequins, embellishment and silks.
But if you’re still not sure, have fun with accessories – try a pink shoe, a pink scarf, a belt or a bag, or make a statement with some chunky jewellery (but never all at once). Accessories are always a safe way to introduce a new colour into your wardrobe.
So whether you choose tone-on-tone pink separates, a pretty floral or graphic print, or pastel hues, there will be shade to suit your skin tone and hair and eye colour guaranteeing you’ll always be pretty in pink.
